High-quality cyber defense training that allows for the acquisition of skills that can then be applied in real-world scenarios is highly complex. Although most organizations and bodies involved in this area agree that generating mechanisms for developing these capabilities is a priority, significant gaps remain in terms of methodologies and skills, as well as training systems and environments. In this regard, the COBRA project, “Adaptive and customizable cyber maneuvers for hyperrealistic APT simulation and cyber defense training using gamification,” is ambitious in combining diverse technologies to achieve this goal, inherently multidisciplinary in nature but with clear goals.
