A Decade of Innovation: IPTC Celebrates its 10th Anniversary at the Forefront of ICT Research (2016 – 2026)
This year marks a major milestone for the Information Processing and Telecommunications Center (IPTC). We are celebrating 10 years of driving research excellence, technological development, and knowledge transfer at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). For a decade, our center has bridged the gap between academic breakthroughs and industry needs, shaping the future of digital transformation.
Ten Years of Driving Science and Impact
Since its inception, IPTC has established itself as an international benchmark. Our growth and success are a direct result of the dedication, talent, and passion of our researchers, faculty, and support staff. Over the past ten years, our teams have successfully led numerous European projects, secured vital patents, and mentored the next generation of innovators.
Our specialized research efforts continue to advance society across eight strategic pillars:
- Connected Industry: Advancing data-driven systems, cognitive computation, Big Data, and IoT technologies.
- Data Engineering & Digital Transformation: Focusing on target sector orientation, data exploitation, and advanced modelling.
- Future Telecoms’: Innovating within signal processing, media, advanced networks, and cybersecurity.
- Health & Wellbeing Support: Developing systems for independent ageing, improving healthcare, and p-health services.
- Interaction & Interfaces: Creating auto-deployable, advanced intelligent systems.
- Mobility and Transport: Transforming air, surface, and multimodal transport logistics.
- Remote Sensing & Space: Engineering next-generation devices, algorithms, systems, and applications.
- Smart Cities: Optimizing urban spaces, resources, and citizen engagement.
Looking to the Future
