Félix Pérez Martínez, emeritus professor at IPTC, receives the award from the Association of Telecommunications Engineers of Madrid.

The Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers of Madrid (AEIT-Madrid), in its commitment to make visible the impact of telecommunications engineering in strategic sectors, recognises Félix Pérez Martínez, emeritus professor at IPTC, in the Defence Technologies category of the Telecommunications Night Awards, for his extensive and outstanding career in the application of telecommunications technologies in this sector, both from the academic field and through his direct collaboration with the Spanish Army.

PhD in Telecommunications Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and professor since 1989 at the ETSIT-UPM, member of the Information Processing and Telecommunications Center (IPTC) since its creation, Félix Pérez Martínez has developed an exemplary career focused on radio frequency technologies and radar systems, key elements in military and security applications. Between 2013 and 2021 he directed the ETSIT-UPM, and has held positions of responsibility in national academic evaluation bodies. He currently chairs the Fundación Círculo de Tecnologías para la Seguridad y la Defensa, from which he promotes knowledge transfer to strategic sectors in the public and private sectors.

His profile integrates a unique technical-strategic vision: he holds a Diploma in Advanced Strategic Studies from CESEDEN, is a Full Member of the Academy of Military Sciences and Arts and of the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain. He is also a member of the Board of the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers, and has been recognised as Engineer of the Year and Honorary Member of the College. Among his many distinctions are also the Cross of Naval Merit and the Cross of Military Merit with white badge, awarded for his contributions to technological development in collaboration with the Armed Forces.

Joining our president are Juan José Martínez Pagán, in the category of Cybersecurity; María Cuevas, in the category of Connectivity and IoT; Mateo Valero Cortés, in the category of Supercomputing and Quantum Technologies; the company GSK, in the category of Artificial Intelligence; and Michela Muñoz Fernández, in the category of Space Technologies, as the evening’s winners.

With these awards, AEIT-Madrid highlights the importance of engineering in technologically demanding environments, where telecommunications play an essential role in the sovereignty, defence and security of our country.

About the Spanish Association of Telecommunications Engineers of Madrid (AEIT-Madrid)

The Madrid Delegation of the Spanish Association of Telecommunication Engineers (AEIT-Madrid) was created in 2009 and represents about 40% of the members of the national total, concentrating more than 3,000 telecommunication engineers.

With the aim of being the reference association for all Telecommunication Engineers working in the Community of Madrid, AEIT-Madrid has among its priority lines of work the promotion of the socio-economic relevance of Telecommunication Engineering and its professionals, by intensifying relations with companies, institutions and universities of the Community, as well as with the universities and institutions of the Community of Madrid, institutions and universities of the Community, as well as the promotion of the incorporation and active participation of its members, especially the younger ones, and the provision of tools that facilitate their orientation and professional recycling, to promote their recognition in the business and institutional spheres, as well as in the labour market.
