6 yearsHe has been involved in research activities from 2005, including European Commission funded projects of the 6th, 7th and H2020 research programmes, as well as Spanish-government and private companies research projects. His research work focuses on issues related to personal data management including personal data disclosure, identity, privacy and trust management, and cybersecurity certifications, and considering these aspects to advance the software and systems engineering methodologies applying approaches such as privacy-by-design and –by-default.
The results from his research are applied, in collaboration with private companies, to fields like telecommunications (Telefonica, Ericsson), banking and financial services (Santander Bank), social networks (Vodafone’s OneSocialWeb, Twitter), transportation (Transfesa - Deutsche Bahn AG), etc.
Jose has authored more than 50 scientific publications and 5 patents in the domain, extended to UE, USA, China, Australia, Japan, and India. He has been the UPM representative in different working groups at several standardization bodies such as W3C Privacy Interest Group, OASIS Privacy Management Reference Model and OASIS Privacy-by-Design for Software Engineers working groups, as well as industry-interest groups and associations such as ECSO, BDVA and AIOTI. He has been the (co-)chair of the IEEE International Workshop on Privacy Engineering, co-located to the IEEE Symposium on Security & Privacy since 2015, and co-chair of the International Workshop on Personalization in Cloud and Service Computing, co-located to the 15th International Conference on Web Information System Engineering (WISE 2014).
